Privacy Policy

1. Information Stored on Your Device

Dio may store the following information locally on your device:

• Your anime and manga list.
• The status of each item, such as pending, watching, reading, watched or read.
• Your display name within the app.
• Your light or dark theme preference.
• Content identifiers already shown on the discovery screen, to avoid repeated suggestions.
• Temporarily cached anime and manga information, such as titles, covers, descriptions, genres, trends and related content.

This information is stored locally using Android DataStore and app storage. Dio does not require you to create an account, and your personal list is not uploaded to Dio servers.

2. Internet and External Services

Dio uses an internet connection to load public anime and manga information, including titles, covers, descriptions, genres, trends, search results, recommendations, schedules and related content.

Dio primarily uses the AniList API to retrieve public anime and manga information. Jikan API, an unofficial MyAnimeList API, is used as a fallback when AniList is unavailable or does not provide the required result.

When these services are accessed, they may receive standard network information such as the device's IP address and request details according to their respective privacy practices.

Some catalog responses may be cached locally on the device to improve loading speed and allow previously loaded information to remain available when an external service is slow or temporarily unavailable.

3. Advertising and Consent

Dio displays native advertisements using Google AdMob.

Google and its partners may collect or process information such as:

• Device and account identifiers.
• Advertising identifiers.
• IP address and approximate location derived from it.
• App interactions and usage information.
• Diagnostic and performance information.

This information may be used for advertising, analytics, measurement, personalization and fraud prevention according to Google's policies.

Dio uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request or manage advertising consent when required. Users may be given access to privacy options inside the app when required by applicable regulations.

4. Exporting and Importing Lists

Dio allows you to export and import your list using .dio files.

These files may contain your saved anime and manga list, item identifiers, titles, cover links, genres and status information.

You decide when to create, share or import these files. If you share a .dio file with another person, application or service, that file may be handled according to the privacy practices of the destination you selected.

Dio does not automatically upload exported lists.

5. Permissions

Dio uses the Internet permission to retrieve anime and manga information from AniList and Jikan, load cover images, display advertisements through Google AdMob and request privacy and consent information when required.

Dio does not request sensitive permissions such as precise location, camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, phone or call history.

6. Children

Dio is not specifically directed to children. It is intended for a general audience interested in anime and manga.

Advertising and privacy settings may be adjusted according to the audience configuration selected for Dio in Google Play Console and Google AdMob.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your personal list and preferences remain stored locally until you clear them, clear the application's data through Android settings or uninstall Dio.

You can clear your anime and manga list from inside Dio. To remove all locally stored information, including preferences and cached catalog data, you can clear Dio's storage through Android system settings or uninstall the application.

Information processed independently by Google AdMob, AniList, Jikan or another external service is subject to that service's own retention and deletion practices.

8. Security

Dio communicates with its external services using encrypted HTTPS connections.

Because no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Dio's features, external services or legal requirements change.

Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date on this page.
